26 months later, I recommit to a public-facing writing practice.  Public-facing in only the technical meaning of the word “public”, because this is an entirely unnoticed corner of the internet (prove me wrong! – <ukuleleseed@gmail.com>).  In reaching for an analogy, I thought about a time, walking through a park and desperate to pee, I found a spot deep in the bushes.  Not the most positive comparison for this project, but accurate in a couple of ways that I will not get into.  This blogging is an expansion of an earlier recommitment to regular writing that I have kept to for over two months now, devoting at least 15 minutes most every day to putting words on paper or on screen.  In the interest of minimizing reasons to avoid them, I placed few requirements on the writing sessions when I started them. These blog posts give me another outlet for this writing, but also add a layer of expectation, as I will try to make these posts digestible to someone other than myself.  For example, while it is true I brought up public urination in the third sentence of this post, I resisted the temptation to provide more detail and sanitized it a bit.  Although these paragraphs are written with an audience in mind, the point is not to find an audience.  The point is to keep my writing-related brain processes functioning, which I have found makes me more “mentally awake” (as the Boy Scouts used to – still? – say) as I walk through the world.
